One of the following is a hat used in the Dior Couture Spring/Summer 2008 show (complete with close-up), and the other is a thimble.

Collections We've Loved
If I were a vampire, and needed to look hot, I would wear all Andrew Gn this season. Dark, Chic, and a hint of that I'm-going-to-kill-you-and-drink-your-blood edge that every good outfit needs.

Collections We've Loved...
Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren of the Amsterdam based fashion company 'Viktor and Rolf' say that fashion is moving far too quickly. So, they put together a bunch of classics with the sayings such as 'no' and 'dream on' strewn about all over them...
Does anyone else seriously want that first trench coat?

Collections We've Loved...
Y'know that girl? The one that wears flowers in her hair, speaks in that airy voice about PETA and Green Peace, and barely ever wears shoes? That's right, she eats purple crayons too.
And that rock n' roll guy? The one who listens to all those heavy metal bands, doesn't care about school, gave you swirlys and wedgies and said if you told anyone about those times he stole your lunch money that he'd make your live a living hell for three straight years of school, 5th grade through 8th (Not a personal account at all... stop staring at me.. stop.)
Well they had a baby. Thus Gucci Fall/Winter 08/09.
The prints can get a little crazy, but the whole collection has this overall biker chick I'm-going-to-kill-you-with-my-motorcycle sense of focus.
Very focused.

Collections We've Loved...
London based designers often seem very 'over the top' compared to New York Designers.... Yup.
Checklist:
Meager segue (check)
Throw reader into metaphorical lions den (about to)
Meet Gareth Pugh.
Pugh started as a costume designer at the age of 14. He graduated from Central Saint Marten's where his senior collection included the use of balloons to distort the model's limbs and features. This is one of his signature techniques. He claims his work is about the struggle of light and darkness. Fashion Goddess/diva Anna Wintour is a noted supporter of his work.
His Fall 2008/2009 collection had a harsh, warrior feel. Immediately, from the first exit, I thought the 'Predator' movies, he also states he got some inspirations from the Wizard of Oz.
Not all fashion is meant to be completely commercial. Gareth Pugh puts so many people out of their comfort zones with his designs, and we couldn't love him more for it.
What do you guys think?

3.1 Phillip Lim!
He's an American fashion designer who won the 2007 Vogue/CFDA emerging talent in Womenswear. What I like most about him is that you can visualize the girl who is wearing these clothes. You've seen her before, you know where she hangs out, what types of movie she watches, everything. He defines her persona well.
Does anyone else want that second look and the jewelry in all of them?

Collections We've Loved...
Happy New York Fashion week everyone! (Belated)
London Fashion Week began today, New York ended the 8th, but its time to go over the collections that we loved.
L'Wren Scott is model turned stylist/costume designer/fashion designer. Her designs are characterized by a strong sense of Rock 'n' Roll, and is a frequent companion of Sir Mick Jagger. Her Fall/Winter 08/09 Collection has a distinct Victorian influence.
How gorgeous?! Which one is your favourite?
