I don't think asymmetrical clothing is flattering on her body type. A coat with a belt would look a lot nicer on her. And where are the buttons on this jacket?
I would agree with the belt idea and I wish that the sweater was buttoned because it looks a little awkward with her hand holding the sweater in place. But, I think that you're right on with asymmetrical clothing being flattering for her body type, and many others for that matter. This particular outfit on her could use a little more definition of shape. Her figure seems lost.

yeah I agree, layers are fun and can make you look slim .. but only if done right !
